The Wonders of Animals

I have a cute little story to tell.
Behind my parent's backyard is a farm that has been there for a very long time. It's a working farm and they have cows, chickens, turkeys, and sheep. WELL-about a month ago my family discovered something very interested living in the hedges in their backyard. It was a momma turkey! Somehow she got over the fence into their backyard and made a little home in the middle of the hedge. Not only was the backyard a new home for the momma turkey, but also for her 14-15 eggs! Yep-she layed her eggs in our hedges. I have a lot of respect for this momma turkey, she was a trooper. She did not budge from sitting on those eggs until they hatched about a month later. We're talking through snow and everything. I remember visiting one day and she had a thin layer of snow over her body-but no budging. Last weekend, I was there to witness the baby turkeys (Poults) who were born 2 days earlier. The next day, when they were about 3 days old the momma turkey flew over the fence to the farm, she gawked at her little ones to follow her through the holes in the fence back to their real home on the farm. And that was that, away they went. Who says you can't have a little bit of small farm town in Centerville?

Bridal Veil Falls

Went up to Bridal Veil Falls in Provo canyon last weekend. We rode our bikes up the trail to the falls, then came back down and had a BBQ at a campsite with my brother, Charlee & Dustin and Liz.

Oh yeah, did I mention i'm graduating next week? YAY for me! ;) Just pray that i'll find a teaching job....it's like finding a needle in a haystack!

Crafty Craft Time

Every now and then I get the craft itch. I do not consider myself a crafty person, I typically rush through things too quickly so my attempts never turn out as good as others. However, its not the end result that counts...as long as i'm enjoying myself, right?

I was searching the web & different craft blogs for a craft idea that intrigued me. Mission accomplished. I found these cool picture blocks that you can make. You put pictures on these blocks and their a great keepsake, especially if you have kids that want to play with them like a puzzle. I'll take you through the process in case you have a craft itch that you need to address :)

Materials Needed:
*wooden blocks (size is your decision, i bought 6 blocks that put together were the size of a 5x7 picture)
*modge podge
*paint brush
*pictures (you can put a picture on each side of the block-6 pictures total-i did 2 pictures, and put patterned paper on the other sides that matched my living room. I would also recommend a classic picture.)
*scissors
*tape measure
Step 1: measure the sides of the block. On your pictures draw the measurments of the block on the back.

Step 2: Cut out the pictures on the pre-measured lines. Be very exact so that the picture pieces fit perfectly on the block face.

Step 3: Cut out remaining pictures OR colored/patterned paper.

Step 4: Using the modge podge & the paint brush, paint a thin layer on one side of the block, put picture piece on that side & press down to secure. Paint another thin layer of the modge podge on top of the picture to secure. Repeat on all sides.

Step 5: Paint another thin layer of modge podge on top of the dried block pictures to secure. Repeat as many times as you want until you get the 'look' that you prefer. I recommend at least 3 layers of modge podge on top of the picture.

Step 6: Let dry-and you're done!

Spring Break

First off, let me vent. I just created a long post and somehow...I managed to ERASE the entire thing! Oh my annoying... Oh top of that...when I logged in-everything was in German! I can't read German...
Anyways, Last week was my spring break and yes, it was a much needed break! I was very lucky to get to go to St. George with my momma and little sis, Bree. Unfortunately, Josher had to stay back at go to classes and work. Here is what we did:
We went on a hike at Snow Canyon State Park

This totally looks like we're falling, we fooled you guys didn't we? ;)
This is my favorite picture of the trip. Oh Breanne...hahaha.
Getting ready to go to the pool. We're sisters, so naturally we had to match, right?
We went to the Tuacahn Ampitheater up by Snow Canyon Park. It is a really cool natural ampitheater up by the rock canyons. We went there for the Kelly Pickler concert & a farmers market type deal on Saturday morning.
At the Kelly Pickler concert.

Miss Kelly Pickler-great concert, and a very funny woman.
Another hike up at Snow Canyon.
We literally had to walk through the deep sand on this hike. Phew!

We spent some time at this old school area in St. George. Super cute. Below is this old fire truck from the 50's.
In the same area we went to a great restaurant called, The Painted Pony.
Old school telephone booth.
Our last morning there we went a great breakfast place. While waiting to get in we decided to hang out with Brigham Young. No biggie.

No one loves horses more than Bree!

Easter Weekend

Josh & I stayed at my parents over the Easter weekend. It was fun to catch up with family and to do all the traditions we did growing up! Saturday we got to attend the afternoon session of conference with Josh's parents, my dad, and Breanne. It was awesome. Saturday night we hung out, and dyed some eggs. I did a killer job:)

Easter morning, as always, we all hunted for easter eggs. Lol, pretty sure we are still going to do it until we're 30-and i'm perfectly happy with that :) We had a HUGE breakfast after the easter egg hung-it's safe to say that we all got super stuffed. We had our annual easter party with my mom's side of the family. The cousins all got to hunt for easter eggs over there as well.
On our way to the family party we stopped by the hospital to visit Josh's sister, Tara, we had an Appendicitis and had surgery a few days ago. We hope she gets better soon! Also, on another sad note-my great grandmother, Ethel, passed away last week due to natural causes. Her funeral is this week and she will be remembered by us all!

This week is awesome, it's my spring break! Yay:) On Wednesday i'm going to St. George on a girls trip with my mom and sister which will be awesome and warm!

Moab 2010

This was my first 'jeeping trip' to Moab. I was quite nervous because Josh had taken me in his jeep, by Orangeville, once and I was completely freaked out. I was basically the photographer on this trip, want to know why? You're on solid ground when you're taking pictures :)

Josh's family has been jeeping down there for about 9 years...so their quite used to the idea. They all arrived in Moab on Thursday, Josh & I got there on Friday night because of school & work. We caught them just in time for dinner. Later that night they decided to go on a night trail run called 'the rim'. It was only Josh & I, Dustin & Liz, and his twin sisters-the rest stayed back and went to bed-lucky ;). We headed up to the trail and holy moley, good thing it was dark! The trail was up a side of a mountain on rock, with a river below. You're right next to the cliff most of the time. It being so dark helped me to not freak out so much because I couldn't really see what was going on. The whole time, I kept thinking of how ODD an activity this was. Driving your jeep and seeing how much you can do with it....its crazy. haha. But it was an adventure. I actually ended up jogging beside the jeep for about 70% of that trail that night, it scared me too much to ride in it!
The next day we got up and headed on our trail for the day called, 'Hells Revenge'. It was a long trail through the rocky surfaces of Moab. It's Josh's favorite. It was fun, but man, I definitely could visually see all the dangers that day! The last obstacle of the day was the most intense-(obstacle=difficult/steep/crazy/rock you have to climb with your jeep). I believe it was called the elevator (pic below), but it was this long sort of mini-canyon between two rocks that they tried to get their jeeps up. It took about 2 hrs to get both the jeeps up, Dustin's jeep ended up getting a little scrape, but they both made it! Both of Josh's front wheels came off the ground and one point and I thought he was going to roll over backwards....I am pretty sure I let out a scream at that point. All in all, it was pretty scary, but I got more used to it throughout the day-the pics below speak for themselves!
