Maternity Leave

Sometimes (okay, most of the time) 6 weeks seems like such a short amount of time for maternity leave. However, it is better than nothing. I will be going back to work in about a week and a half so I'm trying to savor these last days at home. It's been a new challenge taking care of 2 kids. Both Beckett & Harlow have been great....it's taking care of them at the same time that can be difficult. Today I thought I had both kids taking a nap at the SAME time, what a treat! However, this mirage was soon destroyed when Beckett came out of his room wide awake and refusing to sleep.

This warmer weather has taken a load off of us. Now Beckett can go outside and get his energy out. It is not good for 2 year old, wild boy, to be stuck inside all of the time!

We have taken plenty of walks already, getting good use out of the double stroller.

We celebrated Valentine's in this year. Made some delish 'cupid floats' (cherry 7-up & ice cream) to top off the night.

Beckett has been talking about 'goin' fishin' for a couple months now. Last weekend we finally took him out for a little bit. No fish were caught but getting out there was enough to satisfy Beckett.
Here are a few other pictures of our shenanigans.

Harlow: 1 month

Wow, time sure does fly by. I can't believe little miss Harlow is 1 month old already. It seems like just yesterday I was preggers. Harlow has been a great little baby. We have been adjusting to her this past month and getting to know what she likes and doesn't like. We are a lot more busy with 2 kids, that's for sure!

Beckett has been a great big brother so far. He never gets irritated with her, he is never mean. If anything, he is already protective of her. Anytime she starts crying when I'm not with her he says, "Baby is crying! Baby is crying! Go help her!" He constantly gives her kisses and loves. Just today he couldn't stop talking about her 'cute little baby toesies'. How cute they are.

Here are a few things to remember about Harlow's first month:

*She has just started to smile this past week in response to us.
*She sleeps 3-4 hour stretches at night (waking up twice a night).
*She is a pretty mellow, laid back baby.
*She likes being rocked, but likes going to sleep in her baby swing.
*She is starting to get more control of her head, but her neck is still pretty weak.
*When laying on her tummy she can turn her head from side to side.
*She likes her baths.
*She talks and 'coos' the most right after she gets out of the bath.

Bringing Home Baby

Well, it sure has been an adjustment around here. It always takes a while when you add a new one to the family. Our biggest concern was Beckett. However, there was no need to worry. He has been great! He loves 'baby sissy' so much. He constantly gives her kisses and loves.

I have a funny story that I don't want to forget. Josh was changing Harlow on the changing table and Beckett was watching at the end of the dresser. All of a sudden Harlow peed (and peed hard). Beckett smacked his hand to his face, looked at Josh and asked him, "What is on my face?" Through laughs, Josh had to tell him that Harlow peed on his face. What a good sibling story.

Other than that we have been adjusting quite nicely. Harlow is in perfect health. She is eating really good and is great at sleeping (of course!). She had her days and nights mixed up for about the first week, but this week she is finally starting to get on a schedule. Josh & I are quite happy about that. She is more awake during the morning and evening and is sleeping for 3-4 hours at a time at night.

She had her 2 week check up today. She is still long and skinny! She weighs 7 pounds 12 ounces (18%) and is 22" long (99%). She has put on a full pound since we left the hospital.
