Pioneer Day & Orangeville Days

We had a busy weekend! It was the weekend of the 24th, so we celebrated Pioneer Day and went to Orangeville to celebrate Orangeville Days.

First, we went to the Bountiful Pioneer Parade with my side of the family. It's a fun parade and the kids love it. We have started the tradition of going to the parade and then El Matador after and that's exactly what we did!

The next day we headed down to Orangeville. As soon as we got there we went to the park where they had kid bike races according to age. We missed Beckett's age group but he got to race at the end for fun. They had a lamb fry dinner and then more fun activities. We went to the bleachers where they were starting the pig chase. A few years ago Josh won and so some of the adults were talking about doing it. They did the kids first and then called out any women over 18. I decided to do it this year with my sister-in-law Liz. I took off running as soon as they said we could. We chased the pig to the fence. It darted left and I fell against the fence. Then to my luck, it turned around right to me and I pounced on it. I won! It was disgusting and I smelled nasty but I won 5 bucks :) After that they had mechanical bull riding (Beckett did that with Aunt Tessa), and a home run derby. Josh participated in that as well. It was a busy night!

The next day we went to the parade, which is always fun. Beforehand, they have a kids parade that Beckett and Harlow were in. Beckett rode his bike, Harlow in her stroller. After the parade we hung out at the park where they had food, bounce houses, and games. That afternoon, we headed to Joes Valley to go boating. It was a packed weekend! The kids had a blast and we love Orangeville Days!

Harlow: 18 Month Update

Our baby girl is 18 months old! This girl is full of sass and sparkles.

Stats:
Weight: 25 lbs (74%)
Height: 32 3/4" (82%)

These days Harlow...

  • Has a big personality! She has a very happy disposition.
  • Loves jewelry. Every single day she gets out and plays with her stash of bracelets, lip gloss, and necklaces.
  • Looks up to her big brother like crazy. Anything he does, she does. Good or bad.
  • She sleeps well and loves her crib. She never cries when we put her to bed and when she wakes up she just hangs out, talks, and plays.
  • Takes 1 afternoon nap per day.
  • Favorite Foods: string cheese, cucumbers, milk, salmon, rice, crackers, chips, French fries.
  • She loves to read books, especially animal books. She is at the age where she loves to make animal noises.
  • Can point to her body parts.
  • She's starting to take a bigger interest in talking. She can say: mama, dada, hi, hot, owie, nigh night, oreo, and is starting to say her own name.
I want to write down a little story about Harlow so that I don't forget it. It shows her personality so perfectly at this age. So, we were at church, a normal Sunday in sacrament meeting. We were sitting towards the front of the chapel and Harlow was restless. She was walking around, getting up and down off of our laps, and then started walking towards the stands in front. She has never shown an interest so I let her go up close and look. She then started walking up the stairs. I didn't want to get up and grab her because it would be disruptive so I was hoping that she would come back to us. That didn't happen, not even close. She continued up the stairs all the way to the pulpit. I quickly got up, ran up the stairs and as soon as she saw me she ran away! Not only that but the speaker stopped mid-sentence and made a comment about how cute she was. I ran across the stand, grabbed her, and got my booty out of there. The entire congregation was smiling and staring as we left. That girl. She loves attention :)

Summer Days

Oooh how we love summer around here. Sleeping in, swimming, hanging out, playing in the backyard until the sun goes down.
I took the kids to Wheeler Farm one afternoon (as a reward for sticking with me during the Nordstrom Sale). Harlow was obsessed with cows. She kept running around, pointing at them, and screaming "HI!", all simultaneously.

I had to capture a typical afternoon with these crazies. I know I'm gonna look back one day and miss this.
Farmington Days Parade with the Pettingills.

Documentation before we gave a talk in sacrament meeting. That girl. I can't even handle her cuteness.

Cowabunga Bay. Josh's dental office had a family party there.

Our garden. It's growing like crazy! Pretty soon we'll be harvesting & canning day and night.

What can I say. Like father, like daughter. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
We went on a family hike on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. It was gorgeous!

28 is GR8!

One year older, one year wiser :) The twinster and I celebrated our 28th birthday earlier this week. We had an early birthday brunch at Ruth's Diner (yum!) I love that place, it's delicious and it's in a beautiful location.

Josh took work off on my birthday so we celebrated the whole day. Josh made me breakfast, homemade pancakes and they sang to me. We went and saw 'Minions' at the movie theater. It was really good! This was the first theater movie we've taken Harlow to and she did pretty good. We had to take her out a few times but generally she was a good sport. That afternoon I got a manicure; we went shopping and then to Sushi Monster for dinner. My cute mom was nice enough to make me peach pie (at my request), so they came over that night and we devoured it.

Goodbye 27 and HELLOOOO 28!
