Memorial Day

We had a lot of fun this past weekend. 3-day weekends are the best! I especially love them when we get a Monday off. We did a lot of fun things and saw a lot of family.

Our weekend started off with a girls shopping trip (plus Beckett) at City Creek Center. Topped off by lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (one of my favorites!)

Sunday, our family went on a nice walk on the Bountiful bench. We HAD to take advantage of the gorgeous weather. We also pulled out our fire pit and got our smores on.
Monday was filled with lots of family! We went to a BBQ at Josh's grandma's house in Wellsville, and visited the Wellsville Cemetery. Afterwards, we stopped by my grandparents house for dinner.

Harlow: 4 Months

Here we are again, another monthly update!

Harlow has been developing and growing like crazy!

Height: 80%
Weight: 14.6 pounds (80%)

  • Happy, happy girl. She is always smiling and happy to see us. As long as she is getting attention, she is one happy camper.
  • Lots of 'cooing'! She is babbling, cooing, and making as many noises as she can. She loves to talk.
  • These past few weeks she has become very interested in her rattles and baby toys. She is learning how to grasp them and bring them to her mouth.
  • She loves sucking on her fingers.
  • Just started to eat baby rice/oatmeal. She is never sure about it at first, but after a few spoonful's she is loving it.
  • Still hasn't rolled! She only did it once. This girl is content as can be on her back.
  • Wakes up 2 times a night.
  • Loves walks and being outside.
  • Is the best baby!

Outstanding Clinician

Josh & I attended the end of year awards banquet for Josh's dental school, Roseman Univeristy. We made sure to go because Josh was nominated by his fellow students for the award of, 'Lifelong Colleague'. We knew he didn't win that one, because they would have told him before hand but we went anyways because it was an honor for him to even be nominated.

We had dinner and listened to speakers and then they handed out awards for each class. They got to the D3's and handed out the awards. Then they announced that the faculty were going to give out a couple of awards (which no one knew about). That's when Josh received the award for, 'Best Clinician'. It was a total surprise. I'm so proud of him! It's so fun to see that he was recognized by the faculty for his hard work and talent.

Only one more year to go!

Mother's Day 2014

This Mother's Day was great. Josh and the kids spoiled me with a cute necklace and let me sleep in a little. We went to brunch with my side of the family (tradition) and ate WAY too much food. We hung out, talked, laughed, and had a good time. That's what makes a good day!

We went to dinner at Market Street a few days before for my grandma Stapley's birthday. Here are a couple of cute pictures of the kids.

Splash N' Sprint Triathlon

Josh & I competed in the Splash N' Sprint Triathlon last Saturday. I was a bit nervous for this one because I usually have more time to train. One of my post-baby goals was to compete in this tri. With having Harlow 3 1/2 months ago and working full-time I wasn't able to train like I had hoped. We were both able to get enough in to do fairly well.

The swim, bike, and run went pretty well for both of us. What I wasn't prepared for was the cold. Being wet from swimming and then getting on the bike in 45-50 degree weather (with winds) was a bit chilly! My feet were almost completely numb when I started the run. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and I think we'll keep doing this one every year.

Beckett: 3 Years Old

Our baby is 3 years old! Josh and I are still at odds at how we are old enough to have 3 year old son. It seems like it was just yesterday when I was writing blog posts about his baby month-to-month update. Now here I am, writing an update about my big, 3 year old, little man :)

Beckett has truly been the center of our lives these last 3 years. He has brought so much joy into our home. He is so much fun and full of energy; he has been ever since he was kicking me like crazy in the womb.

He is a very loving, caring person. He is constantly giving me compliments like, "Momma, you look beautiful today." or "Momma, I like your dress. It's so pretty." It melts my heart. He has started doing it to Harlow too, which is even better. I was holding Harlow the other day when Beckett came over. He touched her face and said, "Harlow, you are sooo beautiful." I can't take the credit for him being so sweet, his dad has been a great example to him.

Beckett loves, loves, loves anything that gets him moving and grooving. He loves walks, trips to the park, playing in our backyard, SWINGING (which he could do for hours on end), trips to the pet store, painting, playing with his trains and Legos, wrestling with Josh, chasing Romeo around the house, and playing with his cars. He also loves to help me bake in the kitchen and do crafts.

His Favorites:
  • Movie: Currently, it's Mulan. It changes every month or so, the last favorite was Toy Story 1, 2, and 3. He doesn't discriminate.
  • Song: Frozen soundtrack (specifically, the Snowman song)
  • Book: Pingo, The Very Hungry Caterpillar,
  • Color: Orange
  • Stuffed Animal: Puppy and Mickey (his giraffe)
  • Toy: He loves his figurines right now (Monsters University & Toy Story characters), his tool set he got last Christmas, and toy cars.
  • Activity: Swinging, riding his new bike, going to the park, swimming, playing with play dough and watching movies.
  • Food: Hot Dogs, Quesadillas, Grilled Cheese, Mexican rice, and fruit
  • Drink: Capri Sun (hands down)
  • Season: Summer. He had a hard time this winter, he kept asking when the sun was going to come out.
  • Holiday: Christmas (He still talks to me about Santa)

Harlow's Blessing & Beckett's Birthday Party

This party was one for the books! It took a lot of preparation and hosting a lot of people is a bit stressful. The party came together and I think everyone had a good time, I hope! That's the most important part. Now for me, I'll be planning a trip to the spa.

Beckett's 3rd birthday is on May 6th, but because his birthday and Harlow's blessing were so close we decided to combine the two into one big party. My main concern was the weather, luckily it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Josh blessed Harlow with our friends and family there to watch. Harlow is a super low key baby, but of course when she did cry it was right during the blessing! All well, it happens. Afterwards we headed to our house to eat and play.

Beckett has been obsessed with Toy Story this year so his part of the party was Toy Story themed. I caught Bridger & Beckett stealing gummy worms. Those two are adorable together.

After eating, we did the piñata in the front yard. Beckett didn't quite understand what a piñata was, he wouldn't even hit it. Instead he watched as the kids knocked it down and made a mad rush to grab as much candy as they could. I about got trampled in the process.

We did the birthday cake after, Beckett couldn't wait to blow out his candles. He had been talking about it for days.

Beckett loved opening his presents too, that kid is so spoiled! He got lots of fun stuff that we'll get to play with all summer.

Thanks again to everyone that came and made that day special!
