Bree just had surgery on Tuesday and I wanted to give an update. Bree injured her knee a few years ago and has been trying to deal with it ever since. This fall it started getting swollen frequently so my parents took her into the doctor. At first look they thought she would have a typical knee surgery to fix the problem. After going to a few doctors they figured out that surgery on her knee wouldn't fix her knee, it was stemming from her hip. Her left femur bone was twisted inward which was causing knee problems. In order to fix her knee they would have to straighten out her femur, which is obviously a much bigger surgery than planned. The doctor went in, cut her femur, inserted a rod, straighted it out, and sewed her back up. In about a year, when her femur had healed straight, they will go back in and take the rod out. Phew....that's a lot!
Bree was a trooper and dealt with the surgery well. The surgery took a few hours and we visited her right after she woke up. She was a bit groggy, but as soon as she saw Beckett she woke right up! The first few days at the hospital she did great. Yesterday was her first full day at home, and according to my parents it hasn't been a fun experience. She has been nauseated a lot and hasn't been able to keep much food down. I hope she starts feeling better, but I think the next few weeks will be rough!
In other news, we are settled (mostly) into our knew house. We did a lot of work on it and it feels good to be almost done. We just need to finish up the bathroom counter and closets, then our upstairs will be complete (pictures soon)! We won't get to rest for long though, its warming up which means we'll start working on the outside.
Beckett has had a difficult time adjusting, and the time change last week really threw him off. He has been going to bed much later and fighting to go to sleep. Last night, however, he slept like a rock! This is a picture of him last night, I couldn't help it-I wanted to capture this cute little bug. He wouldn't take his Elmo slippers off either, good memories.
